Guest Alan Francis Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Is this a common problem? My Vreg TDI had a new wiper motor in 2002 and this packed in 11months later in Feb 2003 Fords replaced it under the guarantee but now it has gone again (Jan 04) Dealer in Newport say its Ford part problem and Ford say its not there fault Dealer wants Quote
seatkid Posted January 16, 2004 Report Posted January 16, 2004 Definitely not. Surely 12 month warranty would apply to replaced part. But something else must be wrong, to requote a previous posting....(FORD TSB) TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN No.15/1997 Car and Light/Medium Commercial 15.04.1997 Section: 32Procedure for Inoperative Windscreen Wiper Motor Vehicles with 1.9l TDI and 2.8i-CD-V6 engine built to 14.10.96 inclusive (build code TY). If a concern is expressed that the front wiper motor is not functioning, this could be caused by voltage peaks that occur when the air conditioning compressor is switched on and which damage the wiper motor module. To resolve the concern, the wiper motor module must be renewed (not the whole wiper motor) and an additional cable with diode must be installed. The additional cable must be installed between the wiring harness and the magnetic clutch. Since 15.10.96 (build code TY), an additional cable with diode has been installed on the air conditioning compressor in production Check that this additional "diode" was fitted and is not damaged. Theres a good chance that only the wiper motor module (not the whole wiper motor) was broken. Quote
